Parking and getting to Lumen Field on game day
The honest version of Seahawks parking: the stadium’s own lots are mostly spoken for by season ticket holders, the lots within a few blocks charge a premium, and the train drops you off a football field from the gate. Most single-game buyers should plan on transit or a neighborhood garage, and the earlier you decide, the less you pay.
The stadium’s own lots
Lumen Field has two on-site options, and on game days both are largely pre-sold to season ticket holders.
- Lumen Field Parking Garage, 330 S Royal Brougham Way, south of the stadium. Indoor, with K-9 security screening at entry. Opens at 6 a.m. on event days and closes two hours after the event. The garage does not accept StubHub parking passes.
- North Lot, 521 Stadium Pl S. Outdoor, the only on-site lot that takes oversized vehicles over 8 feet 3 inches. Same 6 a.m. opening and two-hour close.
Neither allows tailgating, overnight parking, or RVs. Rates are set per event, and the stadium’s event calendar is the only reliable source for a given game. If you are not a season ticket holder, treat these as unavailable and be pleasantly surprised if a pass turns up.
Neighborhood garages and lots
The realistic option for single-game buyers is the ring of garages and surface lots in SoDo, Pioneer Square, and the International District. Prices scale with distance: expect $30 to $75 for most games, up to $100 for the closest spots on a 49ers or Cowboys date, and $20 to $40 if you are willing to walk ten minutes. Two named garages on the stadium’s own list are the Union Station Garage at 820 4th Ave S and the Metro Parking Garage at 9636 6th Ave S. Reserving in advance through a parking app is worth it for rivalry games; for a Giants game in December you can usually drive in.
Accessible parking and drop-off
Designated ADA spaces exist in both the North Lot and the garage, subject to availability, with additional first-come ADA parking at the Union Station Garage. The garage’s Level 2 has an accessible entrance. ADA drop-off is at 1st Ave S and S Charles St, near the Pro Shop.
Rideshare and passenger drop-off
The stadium designates two rideshare points: King St and Occidental Ave on the north side, and Royal Brougham Way and Occidental on the south side. General passenger drop-off is on Railroad Way S (also called Charles St) just west of Occidental, reached from 1st Ave S. After the game, surge pricing is severe and the pickup zones back up; walking north to Pioneer Square before requesting a ride is faster and cheaper.
Transit, which is the recommendation
Link light rail. Stadium Station and International District/Chinatown Station are both a short walk. Free parking is available at the Angle Lake, Tukwila International Boulevard and Northgate stations, so a park-and-ride from the north or south costs a fare each way instead of a garage. Link stops running at midnight, which only matters for a late Monday game.
Sounder game trains. Sound Transit runs extra Sounder trains on game days from Lakewood, Tacoma and the south, and from Everett and the north, arriving at King Street Station, which the stadium describes as a football field away from the gates. Trains fill; buy in advance on the app.
Buses, streetcar, ferries. More than 15 King County Metro routes stop within three blocks. The First Hill streetcar stops at S Jackson St and Occidental, a third of a mile away. Ferry riders from Bainbridge and Bremerton arrive at Colman Dock, and King County Water Taxis from West Seattle and Vashon land at Pier 50, both about a 15-minute walk south along the waterfront.
Bikes. Racks are at the northwest corner of the stadium and south of the garage under the bridge by T-Mobile Park.
The plan we would use
- From the south or north suburbs: park free at a Link station, ride to Stadium Station, walk in. Total cost: fares.
- From Tacoma, Puyallup, Kent, Everett: Sounder game train to King Street.
- Driving from the Eastside: reserve a Pioneer Square or SoDo garage in advance, arrive two hours before kickoff, walk.
- Leaving: the crowd at Stadium Station clears in about 20 minutes. Waiting for one drink at a Pioneer Square bar is faster than standing on the platform.
Bag policy applies at the gates: clear bags only, with small clutches allowed. Check the stadium’s clear bag page before you pack.
