How Seahawks jerseys fit, cut by cut
The most common reason a Seahawks jersey gets returned is not the player or the color. It is that the buyer ordered their t-shirt size in a tailored cut and it fit like a wetsuit. Here is how each cut actually fits, and what to order for how you plan to wear it.
Start with the cut, not the size chart
Nike makes three adult cuts and they fit differently in the same labeled size.
- Game is a standard, relaxed fit. Order your normal size. The hem sits long, which is by design; jerseys are meant to be worn untucked and to cover a hoodie.
- Limited is tailored: narrower across the chest and shoulders, with a slightly shorter hem. Most people with an average build go up one size from their Game size.
- Elite is the athletic on-field cut: narrowest through the torso, shortest hem, stretch fabric that hugs. Go up one size at least, and be honest about whether you want that silhouette at all. Our Game vs Limited vs Elite guide covers when the Elite makes sense.
Men’s sizes
Nike’s published chest ranges for the Game cut run roughly: Small 35 to 37 inches, Medium 38 to 41, Large 41 to 44, XL 44 to 48, 2XL 48 to 53, with 3XL and 4XL above that. Measure around the fullest part of your chest with a soft tape and pick the size whose range contains your number. For a Limited or Elite, use the same chart and then add a size if you are near the top of your range.
Big and tall sizes exist in the Game cut for the most popular players and in almost nothing else. If you need a 4XL or a tall length, check the NFL Shop player page first; that is where Nike’s big-and-tall stock lands.
Women’s sizes
The women’s Game jersey is a genuinely different pattern, not a smaller men’s one: shorter body, narrower shoulders, and a V-neck that sits lower. It runs true to size against Nike’s women’s chart. Women who prefer the longer, boxier look often buy the men’s Game jersey a size down instead, which is a common and reasonable choice.
Youth and kids
Two makers cover kids. Nike’s youth Game jersey runs Small through XL, roughly ages 8 to 18. Outerstuff, the NFL’s licensed youth supplier, covers XS (4/5) through XXL (18) and also makes the 4 to 7 kids’ range and infant and toddler sizes from 12 months to 4T. Outerstuff jerseys are lighter, screen-printed, and cost less; Nike youth jerseys are closer to the adult Game jersey in weight. For a kid who will wear it to school, Outerstuff is fine. For a kid who wants the real thing, Nike.
Youth sizes run a little small across both brands. If a child is between sizes, order up; they will grow into it by the playoffs.
Layering for Lumen Field
Seattle’s season runs from September heat to December rain, and the stadium’s roof covers most seats but not the wind coming off the Sound. September and October games are t-shirt weather under the jersey. From November on, most of the stadium wears a hoodie or a base layer underneath. If that is you, buy the jersey to fit over the layer, not over a t-shirt. One size up in a Game, two in a Limited.
Before you order
- Measure your chest. Do not guess from a t-shirt size.
- Decide what goes under it in December.
- Check the retailer’s return policy. NFL Shop and Fanatics take returns on unworn jerseys; marketplace sellers on Amazon vary, which is one reason we link to licensed brand stores there rather than to third-party listings.
Questions
Do Nike NFL jerseys run small?
Game jerseys run true to size with extra length. Limited and Elite run smaller through the chest and shoulders because they are tailored cuts; many people go up a size in those.
What size should I buy to wear over a hoodie?
One size up from your t-shirt size in a Game jersey, two up in a Limited or Elite. Seattle games from November on are hoodie weather, so decide this before you order.
How do youth sizes map to ages?
Nike youth Small is roughly age 8, Medium 10 to 12, Large 14 to 16, and XL 18. Outerstuff youth runs XS (4/5) through XXL (18), and kids' 4 to 7 sizes are a separate range.
