Monday Night Football, Eagles at Bears: a first look at Seattle's Nov. 2 opponent
Final: Bears 27, Eagles 7. Without Caleb Williams, Case Keenum went 24 of 34 for 247 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, and ran for a third. Chicago ran 35 times for 128 yards, held the ball for 36:53, and did not turn it over; Philadelphia turned it over three times. Both teams are 2-1. For Seattle’s purposes, the Bears won on ball control and turnovers more than on the explosive run game of Week 1: 3.7 yards a carry. The preview below is as published before kickoff.
Seattle has the week off from Monday night, but the game on tonight is one to watch. The Chicago Bears come to Lumen Field for Monday Night Football on November 2, and tonight they host Philadelphia, 5:15 p.m. Pacific on ESPN and ABC, with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the booth and Lisa Salters and Laura Rutledge on the sidelines. The Eagles are also the team that beat Washington in Week 1; Washington beat Seattle 33-31 on Sunday.
The Bears, 1-1
Chicago opened with a 59-37 win at Carolina, running for 291 yards with D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai both over 100. Then it lost 9-3 at home to Minnesota, and Caleb Williams hurt his right hamstring midway through the fourth quarter. Ben Johnson, who led the Bears to an 11-6 season and the NFC North title last year before a 20-17 overtime playoff loss to the Rams, called him week-to-week. Williams is out tonight. ESPN expects Case Keenum to start; Tyson Bagent is questionable after clearing the concussion protocol.
Before the injury, Williams had completed 36 of 55 passes for 407 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, and run 15 times for 107 yards and two more touchdowns. Press Taylor runs the offense, Dennis Allen the defense. One name Seattle fans know: defensive back Coby Bryant, a Seahawk through last season, signed with Chicago in March.
The Eagles, 2-0
Philadelphia beat Washington 24-22, stopping a tying two-point try in the last minute, then won 24-20 at Tennessee. Jalen Hurts has five touchdown passes and two interceptions. Nick Sirianni’s team is without receiver Hollywood Brown, tight end Dallas Goedert and tackle Fred Johnson tonight, and edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is questionable. The Eagles’ own preview names the matchup: the last time these teams met, in Philadelphia last November, Chicago ran for 281 yards and won 24-15.
What to watch, for Seattle’s sake
The run game. Chicago’s identity under Johnson is the ground game: 281 rushing yards at Philadelphia last November and 291 at Carolina in Week 1. Seattle has not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season. That is the matchup on November 2.
Williams’ timeline. Week-to-week with a hamstring, five weeks out from Seattle. Watch how Keenum plays and whether Chicago’s offense looks different without Williams’ legs.
The line. ESPN’s preview has the Eagles by 4.5, a number posted before Williams was ruled out, so check it where you bet. It is here because fans ask, not as advice.
Seattle and the Bears
Seattle leads the all-time series 11-8, and the last meeting was a 6-3 Seattle win at Soldier Field on December 26, 2024, sealed by a late Riq Woolen interception. Seattle’s assistant head coach, Leslie Frazier, played cornerback for the Bears from 1981 to 1986 and started on the Super Bowl XX team. The teams meet this year because both won their divisions in 2025.
The November 2 game is 5:15 p.m. Pacific on ESPN, the first of Seattle’s two Monday night home games; Dallas comes on December 7. Our Bears ticket guide covers where to sit and where to buy, and the full game guide goes up the Monday before. Seattle’s next game is the Chargers at Lumen Field on Sunday.
