Seahawks vs Patriots game day guide: the Super Bowl LX rematch

Final: Seahawks 13, Patriots 10. Sam Darnold left on the first drive, Drew Lock threw a 45-yard touchdown to Jaxon Smith-Njigba on fourth-and-1, and the defense intercepted Drake Maye three times in the fourth quarter. The recap has what decided it; the guide below is as it stood on game day.

The season opened on a Wednesday, against the team Seattle beat 29-13 in February, with a banner going up over the north end and the Patriots playing on a Wednesday for the first time in their history. Here is the whole day as we laid it out that morning, from the 2:30 concert to the last train home.

The basics

Wednesday is not a normal football day, and 5:20 is not a normal football kickoff. If you are going to the game, that is a rush-hour arrival into SoDo. If you are watching, the game runs to roughly 8:45 p.m. on a school night.

How to watch

The game is on NBC over the air and through every live-TV streaming service that carries NBC. The full breakdown of services, prices and what each one gets you is in the streaming table below. Outside the U.S., NFL Game Pass on DAZN has the international rights.

The team’s app streams the local radio call for listeners in the Seattle area, which is the way to hear Steve Raible if you are in the building or watching on a delay.

The line

As of Wednesday morning, September 9, the consensus has Seattle favored by 3, priced at -120 on most books, with the total holding at 44.5 and a moneyline around Seattle -170, New England +142. The number opened at Seattle -3.5 and has slipped a half point toward the Patriots since the injury designations landed. The books are split: DraftKings and Caesars sit at -3, FanDuel, BetMGM and Fanatics at -3.5, and Hard Rock is out at -4.5. The moneyline has tightened from -198 to -170 on Seattle, which is money coming in on New England as the underdog. For context, the Super Bowl closed with Seattle as a short favorite and the game went under.

Two notes. The number can still move before kickoff once the inactives come out at 3:50, especially if Nick Emmanwori is on the list. And Washington allows sports betting only in person at tribal casinos; there is no legal online sportsbook in the state. Where to watch

The official watch party for the opener is Hometeam’s Opening Kickoff Watch Party at Occidental Mall in Pioneer Square, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a 25-foot screen, a beer garden, special guests, no cover and open to all ages. It is the same crew that ran the World Cup watch parties on the mall this summer, and it is three blocks from the stadium, so it works as the pregame spot if you have a ticket and the whole day if you do not.

Beyond that, the team runs an official Bar Alliance of more than 60 locations across Washington. The Seattle list and the statewide directory are below. Expect every one of them to be full an hour before a 5:20 Wednesday kickoff.

Patriots fans in town have a room: the Boston Sports Fan Group of Seattle gathers at Fuel Sports in Crown Hill, which is itself a Bar Alliance location at 8037 15th Ave NW.

Party at the Pier sold out Saturday at Pier 62. If you missed the trophy there, the Lombardi Trophy is set up for photos in the Ticketmaster Tailgate at every home game this season, starting tonight.

At the stadium

The banner goes up before kickoff, not at halftime, so being in your seat by 5 p.m. is the point of going to this game. Lower-bowl seats with a view of the north end are priced accordingly on the resale market; the seating chart guide explains which 300-level sideline sections give you the same sightline at a third of the price.

The forecast is on your side: dry, mostly cloudy, upper 60s when the gates open and upper 50s by the end of the game. Bring a layer for the fourth quarter and leave the rain gear at home.

Lumen Field is cashless and enforces a clear bag policy: a clear bag no bigger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a small clutch. Tailgating is not permitted in the stadium’s own lots, and on a game day those lots are mostly reserved for season ticket holders in any case.

Getting there on a Wednesday at 5:20 is the hard part. Interstate 5 and the SoDo surface streets will be carrying commuter traffic on top of game traffic, and the neighborhood garages will fill early. Take the train: Link light rail to Stadium Station, or the Sounder game trains into King Street Station from Tacoma, Puyallup, Kent and Everett, which Sound Transit runs specifically for these nights. Seahawks news going in

• The final report: Okada out, Emmanwori questionable. Ty Okada (hamstring) has been ruled out, and Nick Emmanwori (ankle) and Tory Horton (hamstring) are questionable. Mike Macdonald on Emmanwori: he “had his most work in the last couple of days” and “looks great,” which is as close as this staff gets to saying a player will go. With Okada down, Julian Love is the only fully healthy safety on the 53, and the depth is on the practice squad: Rodney Thomas II, AJ Finley, D’Anthony Bell and Maxen Hook. Expect an elevation before kickoff. The full table is below and on the news page, updated as it changes; inactives come at 3:50 p.m.
• The backfield is the story. Zach Charbonnet starts the season on PUP while recovering from ACL surgery, and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III is in Kansas City now. The running back room for the opener is Jadarian Price, George Holani and Emanuel Wilson, none of whom has carried an NFL game. Walker’s return to Lumen Field is circled for October 25.
• The offense has a new coordinator. Brian Fleury took over from Klint Kubiak this offseason; the scheme stays, the play-caller changes. Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are the pieces the rest of the league is watching, and Smith-Njigba, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, draws Christian Gonzalez, who held him to 27 yards on 10 targets in February. • The banner. Mike Macdonald’s second season ended with the franchise’s second title. Seattle went 14-3 in 2025, and so did New England. Our preview has the case for why tonight turns on New England’s interior line rather than on Drake Maye’s shoulder.

Patriots news going in

• Henderson and Brown are out. Running back TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) did not practice all week and is out, and backup center Ben Brown (knee) did not make the trip. Christian Barmore went from did-not-practice on Sunday to full on Monday and has no designation.
• Maye’s protection is the whole storyline. Drake Maye was sacked 21 times last postseason, the most in a single playoff run in league history, six of them by Seattle in the Super Bowl; Josh McDaniels’ own word for it was that Seattle “out-everythinged” his offense. New England’s answer is Will Campbell’s second season and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker. Maye says the right shoulder he hurt in the AFC Championship Game is fully behind him, though Mike Vrabel held him out of the preseason entirely.
• A.J. Brown makes his Patriots debut. The receiver New England acquired this offseason has gone over 1,000 yards in six of his seven seasons and is reunited with Vrabel from their Tennessee years. He lines up across from Devon Witherspoon, who was the league’s highest-paid corner for about a week.
• They paid Christian Gonzalez. The four-year, $135 million extension landed the day before the game, after a months-long standoff. It secures their best cover corner; it does not fix the front that got run through in Santa Clara.
• They know this building. Offensive assistant Chuckie Keeton and analyst Charles London both came to New England from Seattle’s 2024 staff.
• Series history. Seattle leads the all-time series 12-9 and has won the last four meetings, including the Super Bowl. New England averaged 28.8 points a game last season, second in the league; Seattle’s defense finished sixth.

The short version

Be on the train by 3:30, in your seat by 5:00 for the banner, and if you are watching from home, NBC at 5:20 with the pregame from 4. Seattle by 3, total 44.5. Okada is out and Emmanwori is questionable, so watch the inactives at 3:50, and then watch whether the Patriots’ patched interior line holds up against the front that decided the Super Bowl.
