This week’s Tuesday notebook covers everything from Monday and Tuesday that changes the picture for Sunday, 1:25 p.m. against the 49ers at Lumen Field, before the first practice reports of the week post on Wednesday afternoon.

Where things stand

Seattle is 3-1 after beating the Chargers 30-23, one game behind 4-0 San Francisco in the NFC West. The Rams are 2-2 after winning 24-20 at Philadelphia, and the Cardinals are 1-3 after losing 36-24 to the Giants. A Seattle win on Sunday ties the division. Sunday’s win came with a franchise record for penalty yardage in a game, 150 yards on 14 flags, and Mike Macdonald spent part of Monday’s press conference on it: “We want to bring it up to the line, and then we don’t want to cross the line. There were some plays yesterday where we went over the line, and we’re going to learn from it, we’re going to move forward.”

Injuries

  • Leonard Williams (ankle) left the Chargers game in the fourth quarter and walked off on his own. Macdonald on his Seattle Sports 710 radio show Monday: “We’ll see. It’s an ankle. I’d say we’re optimistic for the game, but we’ve got to see how the week goes.”
  • Zach Charbonnet will not come off the physically unable to perform list for the 49ers game, Macdonald said on the same show, per the club’s report. “He’s going to get team reps this week, which is really exciting, and I know he’s looking forward to it as well,” Macdonald said. “To my amateur eye, he looks pretty dang good.”
  • Jadarian Price (chest) is on injured reserve. Macdonald: “He’s a tough son of a gun, and mentally, for being a young player, he’s handling everything really well.”
  • Ty Okada (hamstring) has missed four straight games. After Sunday’s game Macdonald said, “Ty has a shot to play this week.”

The first practice report is due Wednesday afternoon on the injury report, with game statuses on Friday.

Roster moves

  • Monday: cornerback Trevon Diggs and safety Maxen Hook reverted to the practice squad after their game-day elevations.
  • Tuesday morning: nothing new on the club’s transactions page.

The roster is checked against the team’s official page every Tuesday. This week it stands at 53 active, 7 on injured reserve, 1 on the physically unable to perform list, 16 on the practice squad and 1 on the commissioner exempt list. Velus Jones Jr., signed to the active roster on Saturday, and Price, on injured reserve, are now shown in their new places.

The line

As of Tuesday morning, October 6, DraftKings has Seattle by 3, with a total of 47.5 and a moneyline of Seattle -155, San Francisco +130 (checked at 9:12 a.m. Pacific through ESPN). VegasInsider’s consensus at the same time was also Seattle -3 and 47.5. DraftKings opened the week at Seattle -3.5 and 46.5, dipped to 2.5 on Monday morning and came back to 3. ESPN’s matchup predictor, a model and not a line, still leans to San Francisco, 55.7 percent. Through four games Seattle is 1-1-2 against the number we published each game morning and 2-2 on totals; our odds page has every game. It is here because fans ask, not as advice. What the 49ers said

Kyle Shanahan on Monday, per the club’s report, after the 24-14 win over Denver that made San Francisco 4-0:

  • Nick Bosa and James Thompson Jr. are not expected to return this week. Bosa has missed the last two games.
  • Mykel Williams, coming back from a torn ACL, could be activated at the end of the week if he keeps progressing in practice.
  • Kyle Juszczyk hyperextended his knee and has a bone bruise; he will miss a few weeks. Shanahan on the tight ends filling in: “They’re all pretty interchangeable, but it’ll definitely get Brayden some more ops.” That is Brayden Willis.
  • Marques Sigle has a high ankle sprain and will miss time, and Upton Stout (shoulder) is day to day.
  • Mike Evans played the whole game through a rib injury, with no setback, Shanahan said.

On the win: “I think the whole team just bought into the type of game that we thought it was going to be.” Sunday was also Shanahan’s 167th regular-season game as head coach, passing Bill Walsh for the most in franchise history. The 49ers come to Seattle on their first road trip since opening the season in Melbourne.
