Seahawks vs 49ers game day guide: Week 5 at Lumen Field
Final: 49ers 32, Seahawks 29. Seattle turned the ball over four times and San Francisco scored 21 points off them, all in the first half: Mike Evans’ 2-yard touchdown catch after Sam Darnold’s first interception, Christian McCaffrey’s 11-yard run after Emanuel Wilson’s fumble, and Gracen Halton’s fumble recovery in the end zone with 13 seconds left in the half. Nehemiah Pritchett’s interception set up Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s 16-yard touchdown that put Seattle ahead 23-21 in the third quarter, and Jason Myers kicked five field goals, all from 40 yards or longer. Brock Purdy answered with a touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks and a two-point conversion to Evans, Myers tied it at 29, and Eddy Pineiro’s 44-yard field goal with 1:56 left won it. On Seattle’s last drive Cooper Kupp was ruled short on fourth-and-10, and replay upheld it. San Francisco is 5-0; Seattle is 3-2. The guide below is as it stood on game day.
The first look at this game, written the morning after Seattle beat the Chargers. It is the game the NFC West schedule has been pointing at since the spring: San Francisco is 4-0 and in first place, Seattle is 3-1 and one game behind, and the last time the 49ers came to Lumen Field, in the divisional round in January, Seattle won 41-6 on its way to Super Bowl LX. This page will be updated through the week with the injury reports, the line, the forecast and the game-day details as they are published. Anything the teams or the stadium have not announced yet is marked that way.

How to watch
FOX has the late-afternoon window, so the game is on FOX 13 (KCPQ), the FOX station in Seattle, over the air with an ordinary indoor antenna, and on every live-TV streaming service that carries FOX: YouTube TV, Fubo, Sling Blue in the Seattle market, Hulu + Live TV and DirecTV Stream. FOX One, the network’s own streaming service, carries the full FOX broadcast, and NFL+ streams the local game on phones and tablets. FOX’s lead crew has the game: Kevin Burkhardt on play-by-play, Tom Brady as the analyst, and Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi on the sidelines, per the club’s how-to-watch post on Tuesday, October 6.
On the radio, Steve Raible and Dave Wyman call the game on Seattle Sports 710 AM and KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM, with Jen Mueller on the sideline. Nationally it is on SiriusXM channels 82 and 195, and Sports USA carries it with Larry Kahn and Bryan Walters. The Seahawks app carries the local radio call for listeners in the Seattle area, which is the way to hear the home broadcast in the building.
The line
As of Sunday morning, October 11 (checked at 6:40 a.m. Pacific through ESPN’s game data), DraftKings has Seattle favored by 3, with a total of 46.5 and a moneyline of Seattle -166, San Francisco +140. VegasInsider’s consensus at the same time was also Seattle -3 and 46.5, with every book it lists at 3 except Hard Rock at 3.5, and every total at 46.5 except Rivers Casino at 46. The spread has not moved since Tuesday; the total has bounced. DraftKings opened at Seattle -3.5 with a total of 46.5 and a moneyline of -198 and +164, the spread dropped to 2.5 by Monday morning and came back to 3 on Tuesday with the total at 47.5, the total fell to 45.5 by Friday afternoon and held there through Saturday’s roster moves, and overnight it went back up a point to 46.5, where it opened. ESPN’s matchup predictor, a model and not a betting line, still gives San Francisco a 55.9 percent chance to win. Inactives at 11:55 a.m. can still move the number. Every week’s line and Seattle’s record against the spread are on our odds page. Our pick is in the Week 5 preview.
As with every game: Washington allows sports betting only in person at tribal casinos, and there is no legal online sportsbook in the state. We carry no sportsbook advertising, and the numbers are here because fans ask, not as advice.
Injuries
Saturday’s moves. Seattle downgraded receiver Irv Charles (knee) from questionable to out: he is still on injured reserve and was not added to the 53-man roster. The club also placed cornerback Julian Neal (hamstring), already ruled out, on injured reserve, and signed cornerback Trevon Diggs from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, per the club’s announcement. The 49ers activated Mykel Williams (knee) from the reserve/PUP list and removed his questionable status, and elevated defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo and tight end Jack Stoll from the practice squad, per the 49ers’ announcement. Seattle announced no practice-squad elevations; there were none on its news feed or transactions page as of Sunday morning.
Friday’s final report is in. Seattle ruled out linebacker Chazz Surratt (calf), who did not practice all week and misses a second straight game, rookie cornerback Julian Neal (hamstring), hurt in practice this week, and running back Zach Charbonnet (knee), who stays on the physically unable to perform list. Questionable: running back George Holani (ribs, knee), limited all week, and receiver Irv Charles (knee), who was still on injured reserve; he did not get that roster move and was downgraded to out on Saturday. Leonard Williams (ankle) was a full participant Friday after sitting out Thursday and has no game status; the club’s report says Mike Macdonald confirmed he is ready to play. Ty Okada (hamstring) was full all week, has no status, and per the club returns to the lineup. For the 49ers, Kyle Shanahan ruled out Nick Bosa (knee, calf), James Thompson Jr. (ankle), Kyle Juszczyk (knee) and Marques Sigle (ankle), none of whom practiced this week; Upton Stout (shoulder), who did not practice Friday, and Mykel Williams (knee), who practiced fully, were listed questionable; Williams was activated from the PUP list Saturday and no longer has a designation. Mike Evans (ribs) was limited Friday with no designation, per the Seahawks’ report and the 49ers’ report. Under the league’s reporting calendar for a Sunday game, practice reports come Wednesday and Thursday, with the final report and game statuses (out, doubtful, questionable) on Friday, October 9. Wednesday’s reports, posted by the Seahawks for both teams at 4:15 p.m. Pacific, had Seattle linebacker Chazz Surratt (calf) as the only Seahawk held out for an injury, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba resting. Limited: Zach Charbonnet (knee), Irv Charles (knee), George Holani (ribs), Tyrice Knight (ankle), Nehemiah Pritchett (ankle), Beau Stephens (knee) and Leonard Williams (ankle). Full: Patrick O’Connell (thumb) and Ty Okada (hamstring). For the 49ers, Nick Bosa (knee, calf), Kyle Juszczyk (knee), Marques Sigle (ankle), Upton Stout (shoulder) and James Thompson Jr. (ankle) did not practice, Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams and Dre Greenlaw sat out for rest, and Kaelon Black (illness), Mike Evans (ribs) and Mykel Williams (knee) were limited, per the club’s Week 5 injury report. Thursday’s reports, also posted by the Seahawks at 4:15 p.m., had one big change: Leonard Williams (ankle) did not practice, along with Surratt. Beau Stephens (knee) and Tyrice Knight (ankle) moved up to full, cornerback Julian Neal (hamstring) was added as limited, Okada was full again, and Smith-Njigba was back as a full participant. For the 49ers, Mike Evans (ribs) went from limited to not practicing, joining Bosa, Juszczyk, Sigle and Thompson; Upton Stout (shoulder) moved up to limited, per the same report. Friday’s final report went up at 3:15 p.m. Pacific from the Seahawks and 3:07 p.m. from the 49ers. Our injury report carries both teams’ day-by-day tables and the statuses, and will carry the inactives at 11:55 a.m. Sunday.
What the clubs have said so far:
- Leonard Williams (ankle). Limited in Wednesday’s practice, did not practice Thursday, then practiced fully Friday and has no game status; the club’s final report says Macdonald confirmed he is ready to play. Williams left the Chargers game in the fourth quarter. Macdonald, after the game: “He’s got an ankle. It doesn’t look serious right now, which is positive news. So we’ll see.” The club’s report says he walked off under his own power with a limp, and that he has missed one game since joining Seattle in a 2023 midseason trade. He leads the team with three sacks. On his Seattle Sports 710 show on Monday, Macdonald said: “We’ll see. It’s an ankle. I’d say we’re optimistic for the game, but we’ve got to see how the week goes.”
- Ty Okada (hamstring). A full participant all three days, with no game status; the club’s final report says he returns to the lineup this week. Okada has missed four straight games; he practiced last week and was questionable, then inactive against the Chargers. Asked about next week, Macdonald said: “Ty has a shot to play this week.”
- Jadarian Price (chest). Placed on injured reserve on October 3, so he must miss at least four games and is out for this one.
- Zach Charbonnet (knee). Charbonnet tore his ACL in the divisional-round win over the 49ers in January. The team designated him to return to practice on October 1, which opened a 21-day window to add him to the roster, and the club’s post said he “still has to sit out one more game before he is eligible to return from the PUP list.” That game was the Chargers, so the 49ers game is the first he can play, but he will not be activated for it: Macdonald said so on his radio show Monday, per the club’s report. Macdonald: “He’s going to get team reps this week, which is really exciting… To my amateur eye, he looks pretty dang good.”
- The 49ers. Defensive linemen Nick Bosa (knee, calf), James Thompson Jr. (ankle) and Mykel Williams (knee) were ruled out against Denver. Bosa also missed the Week 3 game against Arizona. Williams, coming back from an ACL injury suffered in Week 9 of 2025, had his practice window opened last week, and the 49ers said he is eligible to return beginning in Week 5. Receiver Mike Evans (ribs) was questionable and played, leading the 49ers with 76 receiving yards. On Monday Kyle Shanahan said Bosa and Thompson are not expected to return this week and Williams could be activated at the end of the week if he keeps progressing in practice. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk (knee) will miss a few weeks, safety Marques Sigle (high ankle sprain) will miss time, and defensive back Upton Stout (shoulder) is day to day, per the club’s report. On Friday Shanahan ruled out Bosa, Thompson, Juszczyk and Sigle and listed Stout and Mykel Williams as questionable; Williams practiced fully Friday, and on Saturday the 49ers activated him and removed his questionable status, per the club’s roster moves. Shanahan on Williams: “He’s had a good two weeks. When he’s out there, he’ll be full go. We rotate our guys and understand it’s his first game. We have to see how it goes.” Evans is limited with no designation, per the club’s final report.
Where to watch in Seattle
A 1:25 Sunday kickoff is the standard Seahawks bar slot, and for a division game against an unbeaten 49ers team the rooms in the team’s Bar Alliance will fill early. The Seattle list and the statewide directory are below. If you are going to the game, the Ticketmaster Tailgate in the Lumen Field Event Center is the official pregame party, and for this game it is also where the Crucial Catch screenings are. It opens at 10 a.m. for this game, per the club’s game-day guide, with a game ticket required.
At the stadium
Crucial Catch. The Seahawks and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health have made this the team’s annual Crucial Catch game. Before kickoff, in the Ticketmaster Tailgate, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health will run on-site lung cancer screenings in a mobile CT trailer and prostate cancer screenings by blood test for ticketed fans who qualify, and fans can fill out lung screening forms in advance through the team’s announcement. Fans can also fill out “I Celebrate” cards, and cancer survivors can ring the official Crucial Catch bell. At halftime the team holds a bell-ringing ceremony on the field for six survivors, one for each cancer that can be caught early (breast, colorectal, cervical, lung, skin and prostate), with a performance by Seattle singer-songwriter Allen Stone. At the game, 25 cents from every bottle of water sold goes to the Crucial Catch Fund, which helps local patients with the incidental costs of treatment, and through October the team gives 12 percent of in-store Pro Shop sales of Crucial Catch gear to the same fund.
Weather. No rain gear needed. The National Weather Service’s forecast for Seattle, issued early Sunday, is sunny with a high near 59 and a north-northeast wind of 3 to 9 mph. Hour by hour it has about 50 degrees when the Ticketmaster Tailgate opens at 10 a.m., 52 when all gates open at 11:30, 57 at kickoff and 58 to 59 through the end of the game, around 4:30 p.m., with a 0 to 1 percent chance of rain all day. A layer for the cool walk in is enough; with sun all afternoon, sunglasses and sunscreen are worth bringing.
LEED Platinum. On Tuesday, October 6, the team announced that Lumen Field has earned LEED Platinum certification, the highest level in the U.S. Green Building Council’s rating system, and said it is only the fourth NFL venue to reach it, per the club’s release.
Pregame and giveaway. Per the club’s game-day guide for this game, posted Friday, October 9, the national anthem is sung by Mateo Lopez, the Guinness World Records holder as the world’s youngest mariachi performer, with a flyover by a C-17 Globemaster III from the 446th Operations Group at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, weather permitting. Every fan in attendance gets a mini 12 flag.
The club’s game-day guide confirms the schedule from the earlier 1:25 p.m. kickoffs this season:
| Time (PT) | What happens |
|---|---|
| 10:00 a.m. | Ticketmaster Tailgate opens in the Event Center, with the Crucial Catch screenings |
| 10:30 a.m. | Suites and the Delta Sky 360 Club open |
| 11:30 a.m. | All gates open |
| 11:55 a.m. | Inactives announced |
| 1:25 p.m. | Kickoff, after the anthem and the flyover |
| Halftime | Crucial Catch bell-ringing ceremony, with Allen Stone |
Seattle wears its college navy jerseys with wolf grey pants, its second time in that combination this season, per the club’s announcement on October 7. The 12 Flag raiser has not been announced.
What to bring. The standing Lumen Field bag policy: one clear tote or clear backpack up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches (a backpack with no more than two pockets), a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small clutch up to 4.5 by 6.5. Walker’s Lockers near the north and south entrances hold anything else. Medical and diaper bags go through the VIP gates or the club and suite entrances for inspection.
Paying. Lumen Field is cashless. If you only have cash, the cash-to-card kiosks by Section 131 in Olympic Hall, Section 103 on the main level and in the Event Center load $1 to $500 with no fee, though kiosk cards do not work at the Amazon Just Walk Out stands.
Getting there
Take the train. Link’s 1 and 2 Lines stop at Stadium and Chinatown/International District stations, and Pioneer Square station is a short walk. This is the second of Sound Transit’s four Sounder game-train days this season (after the Chargers, and before Arizona on November 8 and the Giants on December 13), so the commuter rail runs on a Sunday, with a T Line connection at Tacoma:
| Sounder game train | Leaves | Arrives King Street Station |
|---|---|---|
| N Line (stops at Mukilteo, Edmonds) | Everett 10:20 a.m. | 11:19 a.m. |

| S Line (all stops) | Lakewood 10:26 a.m. | 11:42 a.m. |
Trains home leave King Street Station 20 and 45 minutes after the game on the N Line, and 10, 20 and 45 minutes after on the S Line.
Parking and tailgating. So far this season the North Lot and the Lumen Field Garage have been sold by the season, with no single-game parking in either, and the team has pointed fans to SpotHero for the private lots around SoDo. Tailgating is not allowed anywhere on Lumen Field property; private lots such as 8th and Holgate, about a 10-minute walk south, are where people set up. Our parking guide covers the lots and garages around the stadium.
Tickets
A division game against an unbeaten 49ers team is the biggest home game of the season so far. Check Seahawks.com for single-game availability. The club’s standing advice is to buy only through Seahawks.com or verified resale, and it names NFL Ticket Exchange, StubHub and SeatGeek. Our 49ers ticket guide covers where to sit for this game and where to buy, and the seating chart guide explains the bowl. We do not show prices, because we have no live feed that keeps them true; check the seller for the all-in total.
Seahawks news going in
- 30-23 over the Chargers. Seattle forced four turnovers and built a 27-6 lead in the third quarter, then held on: the Chargers closed to 30-23 with 2:14 left, and Uchenna Nwosu’s strip-sack of Justin Herbert, recovered by Derick Hall, ended it. It started strangely: Drake Thomas intercepted Herbert on the game’s first play from scrimmage and Sam Darnold was intercepted on the next play, which the club’s game report says was the first time since at least 1978, per the Elias Sports Bureau, that both teams threw interceptions on their first play from scrimmage in the same game. Penalties were the blemish: 14 for 150 yards. Our recap has what decided it, and the Chargers guide has the game-day details.
- Emanuel Wilson carried it. With Price on injured reserve, Wilson ran 21 times for 81 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown, and caught a 23-yard touchdown pass on a screen. Rashid Shaheed added a 28-yard touchdown run, and Seattle ran for 138 yards on 33 carries.
- The linebackers. Ernest Jones IV had 12 tackles, a sack and an interception, and Drake Thomas had the first-play interception. Second-year safety Nick Emmanwori had nine tackles, two for loss, and a sack.
- Through four games. Seattle has scored 105 points and allowed 73. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has 32 catches for 481 yards and six touchdowns, Sam Darnold has thrown for 560 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions, and Leonard Williams has three sacks, all per ESPN’s season figures.
- Two more running backs. On Tuesday, October 6, Seattle signed Robert Henry Jr., an undrafted rookie from UTSA, off the Washington Commanders’ practice squad to the 53-man roster, and signed Dontae McMillan, a Chief Sealth High School graduate from West Seattle who played at Eastern Michigan, to the practice squad, per the club’s report. Safety AJ Finley was waived to make room, and running back Jacardia Wright went on practice squad injured reserve. Henry wears No. 34. Finley cleared waivers and was signed back to the practice squad on Wednesday, October 7, per the club’s report.
- Irv Charles is practicing again. On Wednesday, October 7, Seattle designated receiver Irv Charles, on injured reserve since before the season, for return to practice. The club expects him to contribute on special teams; it has 21 days to add him to the 53-man roster, per the club’s report.
- No Seattle elevations. The Seahawks announced no practice-squad elevations for this game: none on the club’s news feed or its transactions page as of Sunday morning. The one roster move for this game was Saturday’s signing of cornerback Trevon Diggs from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, with Julian Neal going to injured reserve, per the club’s announcement. Diggs played nine defensive snaps against the Chargers on a standard elevation.
- Week 5 captains. Jarran Reed, Charles Cross, Eric Saubert and Rashid Shaheed are the captains for this game, per the club’s announcement on Friday, October 9.
- A short week after this one. Seattle plays at Denver on Thursday night, October 15, four days after the 49ers game, so whatever this game costs in injuries carries straight into the next one.
- The January game. The 41-6 divisional win at Lumen Field was the last time these teams met, and it is also where Charbonnet tore his ACL. This was his first chance to come back, against the same opponent, but Macdonald said Monday he will not be activated for it.
49ers news going in
- 4-0 after 24-14 over Denver. The game was 3-3 at halftime. A forced fumble on a punt return by Siran Neal, which he recovered himself at the Denver 28, set up Brock Purdy’s 1-yard touchdown pass to Deebo Samuel Sr., and George Kittle’s 56-yard touchdown catch with a little over two minutes left put it away after Denver had closed to three. Purdy went 19 of 30 for 218 yards and two touchdowns. It is the third time since 2019 the 49ers have started 4-0.
- First road trip since Melbourne. The 49ers opened the season by beating the Rams 27-7 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, then won three straight at Levi’s Stadium: 35-13 over Miami, 36-30 over Arizona and 24-14 over Denver. Seattle is their first road game since Melbourne, and their third division game in the first five weeks.
- Purdy has not been sacked. The 49ers’ own report says the offensive line has kept Purdy from being sacked in all four games. Through four weeks he has 1,007 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and one interception; Christian McCaffrey has 218 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and Kittle has 16 catches for 244 yards and four touchdowns, per ESPN.
- Greenlaw’s game. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw, questionable all week with a quad contusion, led San Francisco with 12 tackles and forced a fourth-quarter fumble. Kyle Shanahan: “He had an unbelievable game.”
- The defense. San Francisco has allowed 64 points in four games, and held Denver out of the end zone until the final four minutes. It did that without Bosa, and Mykel Williams could be activated at the end of this week.
- Monday’s injury news. Shanahan said Bosa and James Thompson Jr. are not expected to return this week, fullback Kyle Juszczyk will miss a few weeks with a knee hyperextension and bone bruise, and safety Marques Sigle will miss time with a high ankle sprain. With Juszczyk out, Shanahan said tight end Brayden Willis will get more chances: “Brayden’s been ready for this role.”
- Okoronkwo released. On Friday, October 9, the 49ers released defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo, who had two tackles and a sack in four games, one of them a start, this season, per the club’s announcement. On Saturday the 49ers re-signed him to the practice squad and elevated him for this game, along with tight end Jack Stoll, per the club’s roster moves.
- A franchise record. Sunday was Shanahan’s 167th regular-season game as the 49ers’ head coach, passing Bill Walsh for the most in franchise history.
The short version

It is the Crucial Catch game, with screenings in the Ticketmaster Tailgate and the bell ringing at halftime, and a Sounder game-train day. Seattle wears college navy and wolf grey. Chazz Surratt, Julian Neal, Zach Charbonnet and Irv Charles are out; Leonard Williams (ankle) practiced fully Friday with no status, and Ty Okada (hamstring) returns.
